A survey was conducted in Japan to see who they thought was the strongest anime/manga character and the winner isn’t too surprising.
10,000 Japanese people were asked who was the strongest anime/manga character of all time and the results went something like this:
1.Goku (Dragonball)
2.Doraemon (Doraemon)
3.Arale Norimaki (Dr. Slump)
4.Kenshiro (Hokuto no Ken a.k.a. Fist of the North Star)
5.Kankichi Ryoutsu (Kochikame)
6.Atom a.k.a Astro (Tetsuwan Atom a.k.a. Astroboy)
7.Gohan (Dragonball)
8.Duke Togo (Golgo 13)
9.Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)
10.Suguru Kinniku (Kinniku Man a.k.a Ultimate Muscle)
Goku being at the top of the list was no surprise with his super saiyan powers, ridiculous muscle mass, and signature move, the kamehameha. Kenshiro, of course, made the list and Gohan was a little surprising for me. What perplexed me the most was Doraemon’s #2 spot on the list. I’ve never actually seen the show Doraemon but I’ve heard he has an infinite amount of interesting gadgets which, I guess, makes him powerful? He looks too cute to be so dangerous. Unfortunately only one girl made it to the top ten and that was Arale from Dr. Slump. Congrats to her (although she is a robot…)!
I’m surprised Ichigo from Bleach isn’t on the top ten list or a character from Naruto or Yu Yu Hakusho. This list sort of represents what series are/were popular in Japan and most of the characters are from “classic” series. I’m sure that the results would be totally different if the survey was conducted here in America. There would probably be more characters from mainstream anime/manga such as Naruto, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist and the like.
