While actual Halloween celebrations in Japan seem mostly reserved for inebriated English teachers, you can still celebrate Halloween, Japanese style. This can be done a variety of ways in your local community.
Cosplay addicts can come out in public without fear social scorn, free to frolic with legions of children dressed as Pokemon. Ninjas, usually hidden in the dark of night, can come forth to gather candy for their ninja families. College-aged girls the world over put on some cute Japanese cat ears, a few fake whiskers and that dress that they’d normally never show in public because it shows far too much skin.
But probably the best way to celebrate Halloween Japanese style is by going full sushi, as shown by Bonnie Burton and her family during the LucasFilm Halloween party.
