Yeah it’s true. Grand Theft Auto IV expansion, The Ballad of Gay Tony has an anime. And I’m not talking about an adaptation of the video game. It’s more like you control your character to watch an anime that is actually inside the game. Sounds kind of cool right? Sure…unless the anime is titled Princess Robot Bubblegum and contains a bucket load of stereotypes.

Besides its art style, can Princess Robot Bubblegum even pass as an anime? Let’s make a list and see…
-Robots [that reminds me of the Power Rangers]? Check
-Person abandoned by parents? Check
-Nudity? Check
-Perverted old man? Check
-Cute sidekick that’s not human? Check
-Highly revealing battle uniform? Check
-Ridiculous weapon? Check
-Tentacles (only in a certain type of anime…)? Check
-Bouncing boobs? Check
*Sigh* The list can go on and on…

I don’t have anything against Princess Robot Bubblegum, although I like to watch anime. I know it’s a parody, and I found the video to be funny. I’ll even admit that anime can be quite ridiculous sometimes (flying panties anyone?). Though I wonder if Westerners who don’t watch anime stereotype it like this?

Also, I didn’t expect GTA to have a watchable anime in their games, especially one with such glossy-looking colors. At least let it be a manly man anime full of blood, muscles and fighting.
