Sick of those miniature “fun-sized” M&Ms and other sweet candies? Try out some Asian candy to spook up your taste buds!

I never enjoyed trick-or-treating. I just went for the sake of my friends. Getting all this candy made me gain at least a good 5-10 pounds, but I would have to swim it all off. Also, eating too much of those candies every time is a bit boring to your mouth.

Here is my top 5 Asian candies and snacks that you should buy and hand out to trick-or-treaters for Halloween:

1. Hi-Chew. Think of this like Starburst, except softer, tastier, and it even has this gum feeling. It feels like a gum, then it disappears after 10 seconds because you couldn’t resist swallowing such a tasty candy. My favorite is the strawberry-flavored ones. I believe they are a Japanese/Korean candy. (Pictured above.)

2. Choco-pie. Personally, I like mine frozen. Choco-pies are like s’mores minus the Hershey’s chocolate and the fire. Basically, it’s chocolate and marshmallow. There is bread separating those two loveable sweets. It’s so good.

3. Pocky. Pocky isn’t really a candy, but it’s better in my opinion. It’s a stick covered with dark chocolate. I personally think this is instantly a favorite for anyone who puts their first Pocky stick in their mouth.

4. Japanese Fruit Gummies. They’re sweet, taste like fruit and like a jelly!

5. Chocolate Mushrooms. No they aren’t mushrooms, but they are in the shape of mushrooms. The mushroom head is chocolate and the stem is the stick. It’s like Pocky but shaped differently.

Those are some of the MANY I can think of. If you have time, you should definitely try them out! Happy Halloween! What are your picks of Asian candy or snacks?

I can’t watch any asian horror films. Neither can I play scary video games. Not if I’m by myself. Seriously, I’m such a wuss. =\

Oh, and I totally neglected to mention that Ananda Everingham (Shutter) is pretty tasty-looking; I first saw him in The Coffin, which also features Karen Mok as the female lead (who looks so much like Sarah Silverman that it distracted me throughout the entire film). Apparently there was a US remake of Shutter last year.

I heard he’s the Johnny Depp of Thailand. And yeah, he’s not bad looking. wink

I might be numb or something, but 1/4 through Reincarnation doesn’t seem to scare me raspberry , I might try something else.

Aw really? Maybe it scared me because I thought it would totally suck. Or maybe that doll in the movie just freaked me out too much....I really do hate them dolls…

I’ve heard Audition is wicked crazy!

Tale of Two Sisters is one that my friend and I need to see. Too bad I can’t handle scary movies

I couldn’t find the other movies, but I’ll try Reincarnation soon!

List overlap, awesome! After watching Alone, I really want to watch Shutter. Thailand seems to produce a lot of scary films, but up until Alone I wasn’t impressed with any of them. Apparently Shutter came first and I just never heard about it, so it’s pretty high on my “to watch” list. I specifically avoided mentioning the plot twist though because even though it had me going “OMG, OMG, WTF, WTF” for the rest of the film, I think if people are expecting a major plot twist they won’t get that effect. I really WANTED to mention it though, because it really is a big part of what made the movie so awesome. Pros and cons, pros and cons.

I watched A Tale of Two Sisters for the first time this month and was really impressed.

lol would you really scream from a nightmare?

sounds scary i cant ever watch Horror if i dont wanna scream in sleep

the grude JP version sounds scary i can never watch horror

ive never seen any of thoes scary asian movies

A Tale of Two Sisters sure looks scary =\

I don’t scare easily raspberry

that Alone movie sounds interesting

I love RPGs (esp. Final Fantasy). :D Wanna try Demons Souls

Movies: I haven’t seen any of those! Maybe i’ll give em a try since asian horror is much more frightening.
