As a child being a samurai was on my top ten list of occupations (along with being Batman or a dinosaur). Little did I know that I’d be living in Japan one day, and also that finding a feudal lord to employ you was near impossible.

The next best thing to being a samurai is acting like a samurai, and seeing how chopping off peasant heads is frowned on by modern society we’ll just have to do that in the realm of ‘make believe.’ I recently came across this amazing iPhone/ iPod Touch game, Samurai: Way of the Warrior for $1.99.

In the game you play a samurai trying to save a village from an evil warlord. Your basic samurai weekend. The graphics are rich, the music stylish, and the gore streaming. The best part about the game is that you control everything with just a flick of a finger. At first the control mechanics are a little strange, but once you get used to them you’ll be dodging and cutting off heads in no time.

It’s a great way to kill some time while living in a button down modern world lacking samurai beheadings.
