It seems Thai actor Tony Jaa is ready to take on Hollywood after the release of his movie, Ong Bak 2, in the United States last week. The movie reportedly made $26,600 in only 10 theaters on its opening weekend.
Ong Bak 2 is Jaa’s first movie as a director and of course, he comes back as an actor to perform awesome stunts and amazing martial arts moves. Jaa took a break in filming the movie last year to train more for the stunt scenes and clear his mind. He didn’t want to rush the movie and have it turn out different from what he had originally wanted.
Jaa has expressed his happiness for the success of his movies in the US and hopes that this will eventually lead him in a Hollywood movie role. “Hollywood is the capital for the movie industry. It would be interesting to go there. It’s a matter of time.” He was pitched for a role in Rush Hour 3 by Jackie Chan before, but he had to decline because of his conflicting schedule.
Jaa already has Ong Bak 3 in the works.
It would be awesome to see Tony Jaa participate in a Hollywood action flick. I think he deserves the attention. He is talented as a martial artist and stunt performer (especially in Ong Bak where wires were not used for his stunts). Good luck Jaa!
