For awhile now foreigners in several Japanese cities have gathered on local trains to ‘celebrate’ Halloween. This has led to a lot of bad press over the years and now it seems that its attracted right wing protesters.

This year the Halloween gathering on the Yamanote Train line met with a strong reaction from both police and protesters from Shuken Kaifuku wo Mezasu Kai (The Society to Seek Restoration of Sovereignty). Accounts of the protest and the party have shown that the police were mostly focusing on the protesters who were quite loud and angry.

No foreigners were arrested, but the ‘part’ was a complete bust. Something to keep in mind next time you’re in Tokyo.
