This past weekend I had the pleasure to attend the Pacific Media Expo full of fun, entertainment, cosplayers, and fashion. I will now replay my little adventure for you guys.

It all started on Friday, November 6 at the LAX Hilton Hotel. My friend and I came pretty early as we walked around and saw that people were still setting up their booths. So we decided to stop by the Far East Market which offered some products straight from Japan. From make-up to illustrations to phone decorations, people can get a small taste of what Japan has to offer. Next door to the market was Meshi Ya which acted like a mini-cafe. In here you could sample pocky (I tried coffee flavor for the first time) and ramune (a type of Japanese beverage- very yummy). You could also purchase these snacks along with some Japanese food like sushi and rice balls (surprisingly delicious). Across from Meshi Ya was Sake Dokoro where you could sample some sake but unfortunately we were under aged and couldn’t try it. Maybe next time…

After filling our stomachs, my friend and I decided to browse around the second floor and came across a few entertainment rooms. A couple of rooms were available to watch anime or Asian dramas. There was an arcade and a karaoke room but these were closed at the moment. Not that I would enter either of them because 1) I suck at video games that are not rpgs and 2) I didn’t want to cause any casualties in the karaoke room. Later on the rooms slowly started to fill up and people looked like they had fun.

We walked around and saw a line of people dressed in Lolita outfits waiting to get into the Angelic Pretty boutique. Their outfits varied from person to person and were very elaborate. It’s a beautiful sight to see people dressed up in clothing they love and not care about the judgment of others. The Takuya Angel boutique was also open and it contained a variety of very colorful clothing and accessories. I personally would not wear these brands of clothing not because they are ugly or anything but rather it’s not my style. I’m a t-shirt and jeans type of person.

The first day is mostly made up of shopping. We walked around the booths on the second floor and encountered many talented artists. From fanarts to original works, I was amazed at the efforts these individuals put into their work. Of course, artists aren’t limited to illustrators; there was one who knitted cute animal scarves (kitties, bunnies) and another who sold various cute accessories like phone charms and picture frames.

Downstairs was an exhibit hall that contained various vendors with a variety of items. There were plenty of anime merchandise such as dvds, music cds, posters, pillows, plushies, manga, figurines, and tons more. There were other products too like dolls, swords, t-shirts, bags, hats, and accessories.

Unfortunately due to some transportation problems, I had to leave early before the fun really began. I missed the Asian Food Challenge (which sounded like an awesome competition) and the Pacific Music Live Concert (which contained talented acts like UchuSentai NOIZ, Papillon, Ai Cherie and Rusika).

Tune in tomorrow for part 2!
