SM Entertainment, who’s the most notorious for producing only the most candy sweet girl bands, pretty boy bands and solo singer BoA, is taking a deep dive into lounge music. So not much of a clue has SM been given about this new group, and all we know is what we see and hear from this suddenly appearing video. It really comes a big surprise, and from the least likely of labels.
Recently Korean news has made a very lengthy argument in the direction that Korean music is going, that it’s 90% focus is on teen pop music alone. Musicians, rock guitarists, country, jazz players, are nowhere in sight, or sound. Perhaps this recent complaint gave SM the idea to take a risk into a new world? I suppose with the sheer amount of pop groups out there, anything under your belt to stand out is a good idea. Not to say I don’t love pop to death, but you get the idea.
The singing is really sweet, no doubt. Let’s put another spin on this though. What happened to SM’s Zhang Li Yin and CSJH? They were very good and much different than the pop music we had, yet where are they now? Repeating history need be prevented.
