Rice in Japan is big. Making your rice into cute little shapes to show off that you have nothing but free time in your life is even bigger. The company Decofuri makes food coloring for rice, which pretty much makes it the cornerstone of cute bentos everywhere in Japan. Without them the country would be forced to eat plain white rice every day.

On their website they offer a whole host of ideas on how to make your rice look more colorful, as well as directions on how to make your rice look like little animals. Little animals which you would then dip in soy sauce and eat. You sick, sick bastard.

To celebrate the launch of our Japanese entertainment sister site Rekuru, this blog post is part of the Ningin Japan-a-thon.
