From Rekuru: When going out on a mission, sometimes having a partner is essential. Take these pair of ninjas for example which prove that very thing. This video kicks off Rekuru’s ninja video of the day special and you can look forward to plenty of more videos highlighting these stealthy assassins in the days to come. Enjoy. More »

In Ninja Assassin, the Ninja’s could toss a shuriken (throwing star) to your chest faster than a speeding bullet. If you were the enemy, frankly, you wouldn’t be able to unsheathe your gun before they have wiped out your entire force. Before Ninja Assassin, the early 80s and 90s came the explosion of Ninja everything. This explosion led to numerous TV shows, thousands of films, merchandise and students haphazardly enrolling in martial arts courses. Amongst the many old films, a few of them were actually pretty cool. Below I’ll talk about a few movies that I’ve seen, not in any particular ranked order. More »

From Girlybubble: What’s cute and pink that will stealthily kick the crap out of you without you knowing it? No, not your baby sister. Shawnimals Pink Ninja plush toy is most likely, the world’s first pink ninja. Well, okay fine. It, being a plush toy, probably won’t mess your sh*t up. At most, it’ll psych you out with a cutesplosion. You see, GirlyBubble’s sister Asian pop culture site Ningin, has just kicked off a Ninja Thanksgiving Special and I thought the Pink Ninja could hold up with the best of them. More »

By now, I’m sure you’re all familiar with John Woo’s Red Cliff film in theaters now about the epic Battle of Red Cliffs. In my possession are two full-sized Red Cliff posters we’ll be giving away to two very lucky people. And guess what! No battle is required to win. We’re lovers, not fighters here. More »

Most of the stuff Japan creates I’m in awe of, one way or another. And a lot of it, we use and enjoy. But what about the other rejects that don’t quite make American shores? I can see the conversation now. “Mr. Panasonic, I really loved that thing you call an LCD-HDTV you invented and sent to my house yesterday, as I watch movies on It with all my friends and family. But sorry, I really didn’t find a place for your umbrella shoes, my store shelves are full”. Oh and good luck– like you could say this directly to the Japanese directors face without getting sliced and diced by his Ginsu he invented just last Christmas! Without further ado, in no particular rank, here are some really lame, or strange inventions! More »

From Rekuru: Most of us know what a ninja is, or at least we think we do from growing up watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and old kung-fu movies. But how and where did they come from? Did someone roll out of bed and just decide to be a ninja one day? Did someone go to a school with classes like Shruiken Throwing 101? All jokes aside, many of us don’t know much about the origins of these shadowy spies and assassins. That’s where this article comes in. More »

From Rekuru: “Nin, nin! de gozaru.”
Okay, regardless of who would win in a fight, can we all agree that Talk Like a Pirate Day is a tad bit–shall we say–overplayed? In honor of Ninja Week, your resident pidgin-Japanese speaker is here to teach you how to Talk Like a Ninja. More »

As part of my ongoing series chronicling the downfall of the human race via cute Japanese robots I present to you a little walking Japanese robot playing soccer (or football if you’re a normal person) that is also being controlled via an iPhone. That’s right. An iPhone. More »

Lately, we’ve been reflecting a lot on the things in life that are most dear to us. Things in life we are most thankful for and things we genuinely appreciate. Given that it’s Thanksgiving week and it is still indeed, Ninja Month, we’ve all come to the conclusion that all of us at Ningin, Rekuru and Wirebot are thankful for the same thing: Ninjas. Believe it or not, ninjas happen to be our driving force in life. Key figures we look up to, even! We’re also very thankful for you. To express our gratitude, I present to you the Ninja Thanksgiving Special. More »

Early this month, I already revealed 2 different photo set series to SPAO, one including the Girl’s Generation, and the other including Super Junior, in a very saturated, candy-like outfits seemingly suitable for spring. The SPAO series seems to be aiming to brighten and color people’s spirits this holiday, and bring it with cheer. The perfect mascots for that, were of course the mentioned groups above, known for their upbeat pop songs filled with cheer. More »

I kid you not. My husband (just kidding) John Cho is doing really well these days. Not only is he on ABC’s hit series Flash Forward, dude has been featured by People’s magazine as one of the Sexiest Men alive in 2009, alongside Johnny Depp, David Beckham, Adam Lambert, the guys from Glee and my two other husbands (yes I practice polyandry), Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhall. By now most of you know that we’ve giving out game systems to random users. That’s not the only contest going on either. We have Ninja Assassin Gear, Justin Chon autographs on SwanDiary, Swarovski iPhone faceplate on Girlybubble, and ESPN Magazine subscriptions on BlitzNation. If you think that’s a lot, it’s just the beginning! Soon, there will be some sort of regular prize for all our sites like Xbox/PSN point cards on Wirebot, bobblehead dolls on BlitzNation, and so on. If you’re in the city of Rhode Island (why call it a state?) Wirebot is hosting a Guitar Hero 3 Tournament and giving out $100 in Amazon gift certificates. Btw, have you checked out our new Ningin-spin off site for Japanese entertainment, Rekuru.com? Jinra and the Ningin bloggers are hosting a Japan-a-thon special in honor of its launch. Wirebot is going Japanese too. It’s fun when sister sites work together! Expect a lot more of that going forward. Last but not least, we have a cool interview with Takeshi Kaneshiro who’s starring in the new Red Cliff movie out right now. Speaking of movies, I hear Ninja Assassin is coming out this Wednesday. It’s in your best interest to check that out. More »

Well Ninginites, it seems that we’re not all running on the same lunar calendar in looking at the results for the New Moon pin game. Either that, or we’re all a bunch of Twihards who eagerly anticipated the best out of this film because it went from indie production to full-on franchise in a matter of weeks last year. Given my SwanDiary spoiler-free review of New Moon, I’m not surprised that New Moon was just another one of those films we all expected to do well, but didn’t on a film critic-level. More »

Darker Than Black DVDs will include a special side story for every second DVD release. This is good news because it’ll explain the gap between the first and second season. There’s a short PV shown at their main site. It’s pretty cool and the second season is one of the good animes airing this season. Always nice to see the Darker Than Black world being expanded on. If you haven’t watched it before, it can be compared to X-men in a way. More »

It seems like there are some lies against SM Entertainment, Yunho, Changmin, and their fathers had to clear. When SM Entertainment had no one to back them up, and to clear up all the lies about their terrible treatment, money issues, and contract issues, DBSK Yunho and Changmin could take no more longer of this chaos. This is one of the greatest manga ever. If you are thinking of the Pokemon anime, they’re not even worth comparing. The manga has no princess named Ash, instead you get Red who doesn’t do weak stuff like releasing his Butterfrees. And you get Professor Oak who loves to traumatize little girls. There’s also no jackass Team Rocket trio showing up every week ruining the episode and Pikachu getting kidnapped every other second. This is what the Pokemon anime should’ve been. More »
