From Girlybubble: We’ve all envisioned Lady Gaga as an anime character thanks to the Markus Klinko and Indrani photoshoot, but how would she fair as a chibi anime character? The word “chibi” in Japanese typically means a cute “small child” or “short person.” Brazilian artist Joapa transformed our anime eyes-lovin’ Lady Gaga into chibi Anime drawings. Looking at these drawings makes me wish there was an actual anime series featuring Lady Gaga. More »

From Rekuru: A while back, in August to be precise, I attended San Francisco’s J-Pop Festival in honor of the grand opening of New People, a store/art gallery for everything japanese. Besides plenty of girls dressed up in cute dresses, Yoshitaka Amano made an appearance (renowned artist most known for his work on Final Fantasy and Vampire Hunter D), and even a fashion show was on for the day’s events. I debated with myself whether to post this up here as it’s now November but I decided what the hell as any J-pop is better than none. So with that said, I hope you enjoy the pictures. More »

Of course, without the help of Kpop stars, this would never be achieved. Hooray for Seoul! Seoul became the number 1 desired vacation spot for people living in China, Japan, and Bangkok. Already you can tell why. A lot of these countries are fans of Kpop, and many kpop stars go to these countries to perform. More »

Do you want an action figure? More specifically, a Cloud action figure but are confused by all the versions out there? Look no further, I’ll give you a recommendation and review of my latest action figures here. More »

From Wirebot: In Guitar Hero 3, can you not miss a single note on expert? Get the highest score on Crazy Train? Actually be able to complete Dragonforce’s Through the Fire and The Flames? Live in Rhode Island!? Okay, I know that last one wasn’t as exciting, but it really is the only one necessary for participation!
What I am getting at is the announcement of the first Wirebot Gaming Tournament: The Guitar Hero Rock the Box Tournament! This will be taking place on December 2nd, 2009 in Kingston, Rhode Island at the University of Rhode Island at 8pm! We will be pitting the sixteen participants who sign up here on Wirebot against each other in a single elimination bracket. You advance yourself by simply getting a better score than your opponent. Pretty simple. Just make sure you can play hard mode. We don’t mess around with n00bs. More »

Maybe you saw this coming, or maybe I was extra ninja with this. Either way, we can’t have Ninja Month without having a pin game dedicated to Ninja Assassin. If you’ve stuck around for our Ninja Assassin review, interviews with Rain and Ninja Assassin director James McTeigue and our current Ninja Assassin giveaway, you probably know what Ninja Assassin is about. For those just clue-ing in, Ninja Assassin is about a young ninja (Rain) who turns his back on an orphanage that raised him, leading to a confrontation with a fellow ninja from the clan. The film is one of few that features an Asian male lead…who isn’t Jet Li or Jackie Chan! More »
Crebeau also disagrees with SM Entertainment’s claim that the cosmetic company was the reason of this quarrel. Crebeau Cosmetics found it absurd that SM Entertainment would try and change the real reason of why the three members of DBSK sued SM Entertainment by saying it was Crebeau’s fault for leading DBSK to break the contract and want more money. Visual novels are video games except there’s no real gameplay in them. They’re more like a picture book with music since most of the game is in the text. There’s also multiple endings, think of those “Give Yourself Goosebumps” books where your choices affect the ending. They’ve been getting alot of attention and many even have anime adaptions. Although they’re not nearly as big in the US as they are in Japan, there are fan translations available for many of the more popular galges. More »

From Swandiary: It’s official. Almost a year ago today, I killed it for myself by rushing off into a frenzy of serious Twilight Saga book reading. To commemorate this, I stood in line for an hour with what seemed like most of my city. If the release of New Moon were to serve as an anniversary of my time spent with the series, I’d say it was okay. Okay, like what lazy boyfriends do for anniversaries, okay. For those considering the Twilight Saga films to be more of a first date, I’m sorry it didn’t go so well. She/He at least made you laugh, right? More »

From Girlybubble: Beyonce, Rachel Bilson, Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl’s a fan and naturally I am a fan of Bangkok-based Sretsis too. Spelling ’sisters’ backwards, Sretsis was derived from the bond of sisters — moments of childhood play with Barbie dolls and tea-party role-playing. As clever as that is, Sretsis’ Autumn/Winter 2009 boasts an even more interesting theme: metamorphosis. More »

Since I went nuts over Red Cliff, the good people here at Ningin (and the good people who work with Takeshi Kaneshiro) allowed me to interview Takeshi Kaneshiro (that’s right, I bolded it twice- can you tell I was excited about this?) For those of you who haven’t been following my Red Cliff posts (shame on you, go read my blog!), Takeshi played a leading role in Red Cliff as famous military strategist Zhuge Liang. Read on for Takeshi on his role in Red Cliff and more. More »

From Rekuru:
Last night, I had the pleasure of seeing the latest film by Alexander Sokurov (Russian Ark, Mother and Son, MOLOCH), THE SUN is a fascinating character study that is sure to polarize movie-goers everywhere. Does that mean it’s a bad film? Not at all. In fact, the film has nestled it’s way into my top ten movies of the year list and stands as a haunting experience. More »

He is so lucky that it’s better than winning the lottery! Now, what makes this man so lucky? Well, he got to chill with SM’s ladies, Girls’ Generation and f(x), on the same day. Think of the millions of fans DYING to see them live in concert or meet them close. In just a couple of weeks of Kim Tae Woo’s comeback, he meets and hangs out with them. Talk about a blessing! I think one person was a little bit too excited for the upcoming Ninja Assassin film, because he tried to “ninja-flip” himself over a fence. More »

From Rekuru: Welcome to Plusle and Minun Reviews. You may be asking yourself why I chose these two as the face of my reviews, allow me to elaborate. Plusle (left) and Minun (right) hail from the world Pokemon and bear a striking resemblance to the license’s well known face: Pikachu. The obvious difference of course is that one has a positive appearance and the other a negative one. More »

This is probably one of the best remixes you will hear. I want this in my iPod so badly!!! I know some of you might not know JYP’s G.O.D. Consider them the first group JYP ever made. They were one of the first groups trained by JYP and they did so well. Now they are pretty old, reaching their thirties. One of the members, named Park Joon Hyung, played one of the vital roles in Dragon Ball the movie. More »

From Rekuru: Some genres just don’t work well together. Take the science fiction and western genres for example. Despite starring the likes of Kevin Kline, Will Smith, and Salma Hayek, Wild Wild West was a travesty of celluloid film that few can forget. It should come as no surprise that since then, the science fiction and western genre haven’t been paired up again. And with good reason. Introducing blaster guns, mechanical monstrosities, and other high-tech future gadgetry into a world of cowboys, six shooters, and saloon sipping whiskey can prove quite a challenge. What you may or may not know, is that a year before Wild Wild West was tainting silver screens across the nation in 1999, another sci-fi/western mashup had been created. More »
