From Rekuru:

The Nintendo DS is proving to be THE platform this generation for RPG’s and today, popular Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, only reinforced that fact with the announcement of Estopolis (the Japanese name for Lufia). Yes RPG aficionados, more RPG goodness is on the way. The Square Enix developed remake of Lufia II, originally released on the Super Nintendo, will feature not only 3D visuals but full voice-over and a complete combat overhaul. More »

From Swandiary: For just a moment, I’d like to take the focus off of vampires to say that humans aren’t all that bad. Take me for example. Actually — don’t take me for an example. Prior to the launch of SwanDiary, I had the opportunity to interview Twilight’s Justin Chon (human, Eric Yorkie) for Ningin.com, the awesome Asian pop culture site I manage. Justin, I’m happy to say is one of the coolest, sweetest people I’ve ever interviewed. It’s totally no surprise that he’s sent me an autographed headshot to give away to one lucky SwanDiary reader. Konnichi wa, Jinra-san desu! Boy, do I have a puresento (present) for you. Actually, since I’m feeling extra nice, I’ve got two. The first one is Rekuru, our new Japanese entertainment site. Aside from Ningin, Rekuru will be your destination for the best in anything from Anime to Zen. The second one is, you guessed it — the Ningin Japan-a-thon. In support of Rekuru’s launch, we’ve got a special schedule filled with blog posts dedicated to The Land of the Rising Sun. More »

Sad news. My favorite high-fashion model and G-Dragon entourage friend, Daul Kim, was found dead in her apartment in Paris this morning. According to NYMag, the cause of death is unknown, but there’s reason to believe that she committed suicide. At only 20 years old, she’s had quite a whirlwind of a modeling career in an industry that can be unforgiving to diversity. From the runways of Chanel to Prada, she held it down for Asian women. I’ve nothing but respect for Daul Kim. More »

In the year 911 AD, the battle of the European vs. the Asian Vampires took place. (East vs. West)The Chinese Tang dynasty’s leader Zhu Quanzhong was to take over Europe, but his ill and elderly nature didn’t allow him to. A rebel within the West who hated Dracula left the vampire clan onward to China to immortalize the leader. A strong pact set before, was that Count Dracula forbade all of his minions to turn any empirical leader of the East into a vampire. More »

From Rekuru: If you thought giant robots were something only out of japanese anime, think again. Meet Giant Torayan. Sculpted by Kenji Yanobe, this giant robo-baby was recently spotted in Tokyo’s Roppongi district during an art festival. Besides scoring super brownie points with otakus everywhere, the robot is capable of singing, dancing (although I’d hardly call swinging your arms dancing unless you’re me at my high school prom), and of course – breathing fire. I’ve included a video below for you to check out, as a picture of a robot breathing fire isn’t half as good as a video of a robot breathing fire. More »

Chuseok has past and we are left again this year with beautiful mouthwatering eye-candy of our favourite Korean stars. They don their traditional costume, the hanbok to celebrate Chuseok (Harvest Moon Festival), a yearly event that celebrates the harvest and is also known as the Korean Thanksgiving. In honor of next week’s American Thanksgiving, consider the following pictures, pictures we’re definitely thankful for. More »

From Rekuru:

Joining in on the SM Entertainment controversy is former employee Hwanhee, who recently is promoting his solo career, away from Fly To The Sky. What did he have possibly so remorseful to say? More »

The series will be coming back on January 4th after about a year since the last chapter. It’s one of my favorite series but it’s gone on a hiatus so many times. Each time it stops, there’s a huge cliffhanger. It’s bad enough they’re stuck in the cell saga(from DBZ). Who knows how long it’ll last until it goes back on hiatus. More »

This has been a tremendous year for Ningin and the parent company Mixr Media in general. We’re less than two years old and we’ve grown so much, in so many different ways. It’s all because of such wonderful, loyal readers like you. For that, the staff and I really want to show you our appreciation by doing our biggest giveaways yet, Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 game consoles! More »

I once read that the makers of Hello Kitty will put her on anything as long as it’s not ’sharp’ or ‘dangerous.’ Thus why we have yet to see sets of Hello Kitty knives or Hello Kitty javelins hit the market (though we all know people would buy them). So excluding those types of items I’m pretty sure Hello Kitty has actually come out with every item imaginable. Point: The Hello Kitty Spring Clip. More »

From Rekuru:

Everything these days seems to end up becoming an anime. Take Devil May Cry for example, an anime based off the popular Capcom video game franchise. Or Samurai 7, a loose retelling of Akira Kurosawa’s famous film the Seven Samurai. It seems nothing is safe from the grasp of anime lately. So with that in mind, I decided to come up with five films that should be made into an anime series. Here’s what I got: More »

Since Red Cliff is out today in select cities and because there are currently more Rottentomatoes reviews than you can shake a stick at, we’re early with the pin game results. We’re happy with this because it’s getting people talking. If math is totally your thing, you’ll know that a lot of submitted Rottentomatoes reviews equates to a score that doesn’t fluctuate much. Given the results of this week’s pin game, it’s safe to say that a lot of you are great at guessing pin game scores! More »

Just to let you know guys, but this is not a side by side comparison of Ninjas and Vampire powers, but more so what advantages a Ninja has as a Vampire slayer in your party. If you’re recruiting a vampire hunter party, you should have a Ninja on your team. More »

Recently, After School had said goodbye to So Young, who had reported she was retiring due to her weak stamina and would return to real school. More »

I wasn’t in a really good mood today, but I ran across this. I just HAD to share this with yout. Just to give you a small background, Infinity Challenge is a variety show of 7 MC’s who basically try to do hard tasks. All their tasks are so absurd. While I was watching this, I knew it wouldn’t disappoint me. Everytime I see Korean celebrities speaking English, it amuses me. Not trying to be mean, but they speak it awkwardly and in a funny manner on purpose, making it Conglish. More »

Last weekend US President Obama visited Japan for some greeting, sushi, and talks about relocating military bases in Okinawa. The usual stuff a visiting president does when in Japan. Normally this would be a big non-issue for any other president, but as usual, because it’s Obama it has caused a storm of dumb controversy. More »

From Blitznation:

Well anytime TMZ starts covering players from the NFL, you know it probably isn’t the best of news. Of course, you all remember back a few months ago when Tila Tequila accused Shawne Merriman of choking her and abusing her. Well, nothing really ever happened with that, but Tequila is now filing a lawsuit against him. More »

With those special effects, outfits, make-up, and some acting, these music videos really give a different kind of feeling from the rest of the music videos in the market– a vampire-feel. First it was the craze of the series ‘Twilight,’ then slowly, music videos with a hint of the vampire element started coming out. Here are the top Korean music videos that have elements of vampire in them. More »
