In our hands are 10 Ninja Assassin press packets, just dying to be given away. As we mentioned in our Ninja Assassin movie review, a press packet is basically everything you’d ever possibly want to know about the film. E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. As in 28 pages worth of factoids, quotes, news…it’s almost a Ninja Assassin bible. More »

Thanks to the likes of Anne Rice and Laurell K. Hamilton, vampires have become increasingly popular in the West- and increasingly romanticized. Sure, Rice wasn’t the first to write about handsome, brooding vamps, but she did light the match that started the fire. Now we have Twilight, with its oh-so-sexy vampires that sparkle in the sun. Interviewing Director James McTeigue was a challenge of a different sort for me. I didn’t know much about him at first other than that he directed V for Vendetta, which so happens to be one of my favorite films. That’s the only movie that’s he directed prior to Ninja Assassin but he’s been part of the Wachowski’s team for a long time and he’s had a role in the making of Speed Racer as well. I’m starting to see a pattern of Wachowski, James McTeigue, and Rain. I hope those three combine to produce movies forever! More »

Although Son Dam Bi, SNSD, f(x), and Super Jr. are rebelling against the neutral and dark winter colors, Big Bang keeps it real and sticks closely to them. It’s been a trend lately to wear saturated colors, I suppose to match certain group’s musical style. More »

Have we learned nothing from our experiences with the Roomba? Samsung is set to release a new high tech robot vacuum called the “Tango” in the near future. The scary part isn’t the fact that this little guy costs between $400-600, it’s that it contains a camera and software for identifying objects! More »

Ningin has interviewed BoA, the Wonder Girls, Utada, and many other wonderful Asian celebs. This interview with Rain felt bigger than all of those. For me, part of the reason why is because of what we’re interviewing him for, the Ninja Assassin movie – the first big budget Hollywood film with an Asian male lead and a mostly Asian cast. Plus, it’s Rain. There’s no bigger male Asian pop star in the world! I was actually a little nervous but, more excited than anything else. More »

While it’s considered downright rude to be asking a lady her age, I’ll be perfectly honest with you guys: Yesterday, I turned 25. To kick the honesty up a notch, I’d like to make it known that 25 is among the least sexy ages to turn. There’s nothing sexy about being 25. Unlike turning 21 in the US, it’s already been four years since I’ve been allowed to purchase alcohol, go to clubs and partake in sin. There is absolutely no debauchery left at 25 that I haven’t accomplished in my quarter of a century life. Unless you consider a personalized birthday card from my future husband and Ninja Assassin, Rain, the ability to rent cars in the state of California and my new concern for anti-aging beauty products, debaucherous… More »

Check out my list of Asian celebrities who’d make great vampires! This list is comprised of Asian celebrities that are hot enough to be vampires. Although there are many, I just named a few whom I thought was obvious. (Not in any order.) More »

Today has definitely been one of those “I love my job” type days. Since most of you guys never had the experience of doing a press junket and interviewing celebs, I thought it would be good to go through my entire three hour experience with Rain and the marketing team at Warner Bros. And what a great team they have at Warner Bros. Everyone was so nice, open and chatty. I wish every studio was like that. More »

From Wirebot:
Go ahead, put down your m16 for a second. Its ok. There you go. Don’t worry, he’s not going anywhere.

These days, I’m reading a great book that I highly recommend called Ninginlight. It was written by this super prolific author, Jinra Meyer. This book is seriously so good, you have to read this passage in the book: “About three things I was absolutely certain. The first, SwanDiary is Ningin’s sister vampire site. The second, Ningin is celebrating SwanDiary’s launch by kicking off the Ningin Bloodsucker Special, a vampire-themed week filled with Asian pop culture goodness. And third, I am sure you will be unconditionally and irrevocably in love with all the specials we have planned. It’ll suck…in a good way. More »

From Girlybubble: Hello Kitty’s universal popularity exists on levels you and I cannot comprehend. I really want to say that this is because there’s some sort of underlying complex issue that can’t be fathomed, but I have a big feeling it’s largely because of her connections. Let’s face it — Hello Kitty’s kind of a big deal. People know her. To be considered popular, one must have a big posse. This applies to Hello Kitty. To better understand her popularity, I’ve put together The Ultimate Guide to Hello Kitty’s Posse. More »

According to SM Entertainment, the mega international, Korean boy-band has been deemed an impossibility. They will not be ready to tour or produce anything according to SM’s schedule. A band that you’ve grown to love may be forever gone, if they cannot find another label to work under. Due to the penalties given by SM, leaving to another label may be quite difficult. –However, there still lies hope continuing under “TOHOSHINKI” through Avex, let’s hope that will work out. More »

I just came back from the Ninja Assassin screening at the Warner Bros private theater. It was a packed house full of press and other writers which, having gone to many advanced screenings for Asian movies, that’s a bit unusual. It’s also a sign that this isn’t just an Asian movie, but a super big Hollywood Blockbuster type fare. Waiting for the film to start, I was trying to think of the last time a movie with an Asian male lead had this kind of buzz leading the way. Really, there hasn’t been any. In addition to watching a movie, I was thinking perhaps I was watching history too. Well we got there early so there was a lot of time to think — don’t judge me! More »
