Did you know that not all Asian look alike? Frightening. For instance only 50% of East Asian have double eyelids. What are double eyelids? Well it’s where it looks like you have two eyelids. Duh. As you can see in the picture to the left, having a double eyelid makes a massive difference in the way you look. If you don’t have double eyelids you might as well just resign yourself to a life of living alone with 50 cats in your parents basement. In fact that makes perfect sense… single eyelids… single for life… hmm…

But there is hope. Being that this is mainly an East Asian cosmetic problem, our friends in the East have come up with some very easy solutions for the unfortunate ’single’ segment of the population.

The most simple way to give yourself fake double eyelids is to use tape. Special eyelid tape. It’s quite simple really. Pull out your eyelid with your fingers. Then with your other hand put a small strip of double sided tape on your eyelid. Then lift the skin above your eyelid while pushing back your eyelid so that it connects with the above skin. Then do that same thing to your other eye. Oh, and you’ll probably have to do that a couple times a day depending on your skin type. Don’t worry, you can buy a 40 pack of them for $3 online.

But if tape is too much work for you, then you should try some glue. You more or less do the exact same thing as above only this time you need to apply glue to your eyelid. You’ll probably also want to use a plastic tong to lift and push your skin back. Don’t worry, it isn’t at all super scary and weird. Plus since you’re doing it three or four times a day you’re going to get really really good at doing it. There probably is only a very slim chance that you’ll poke your eyes out. Plus you can buy an 8ml bottle for only $15 dollars online.

Now if any of that seems like way too much work to do every day you can always opt out and instead just get eyelid surgery. In fact, according to my five minutes of research on Google, eye surgery is the number one form of cosmetic surgery in East Asia accounting for over half of all procedures. Now the statistics that I found didn’t differentiate between ‘double eyelid’ surgery and other surgeries though. The top three were double eyelid, making eyes bigger and making eyes smaller. But no matter how you look at it (get it?) eye surgery is big in Asia. Heck, you can even find quite a few places in Hawaii offering the procedure which begs the question; how many Americans are getting the exact same thing done?

Next time you’re in Tokyo or Seoul keep an eye out (get it?) on the street for people with eye patches. You’ll be surprised how many of those people are young women.

This is not much different than certain ethnic groups that gravitate towards nose jobs. Anyway, if Far Eastern cultures were not so overexposed to the American-European ideals of “beauty,” no one in the Far East would care for “double eyelids.” I’d be surprised if isolated groups in the Far East share the same conceptions of beauty.

Is BB Creme available domestically?  I’d love to try it. I found myself checking out the anti-aging stuff at the drug store the other day but didn’t know where to start.  I’d like to try this out.

Also, anyone know if circle lenses and other fashion contacts can be made to fit a prescription?  If I’m not wearing prescription contacts then I HAVE to wear my glasses just to see 8 inches in front of me.  Wearing glasses kinda ruins the effect of cool contacts, ne?

i’m having a difficult time deciding on which BB cream to try since i dont have an asian skin tone, but i was thinking that maybe Missha M Perfect Cover Blemish Balm BB Cream #23 would be closest as it is for slightly darker skintones and have heard alot of good reviews on it
