Korea, Japan and Korea DPRK are (arguably) the top 3 soccer teams in the Asian world, and all three have their own shot at victory in South Africa in 2010.

Prior to the beginning of the tournament, every team that is counted as a participant in the World Cup has their name tossed into a hat and are drawn four at a time to determine the beginning groups of the tournament. The teams will duke it out in their respective groups until, well, there is one team left standing–the World Cup Champion.

Although it’s a great feat merely to qualify for the World Cup, the hard part is yet to come, and for these 3 Asian teams, the obstacles are enormous. In successive order, the groups and teams are as follows:

Group A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France
Group B: Argentina, Nigeria, Korea Republic, Greece
Group C: England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia
Group D: Germany, Australia, Serbia, Ghana,
Group E: Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, Cameroon
Group F: Italy, Paraguay, New Zealand, Slovakia
Group G: Brazil, Korea DPR, Côte d’Ivoire, Portugal
Group H: Spain, Switzerland, Honduras, Chile

How far will Japan, S.Korea and N.Korea go? I really can’t say, but with Argentina (crazy good) breathing down S.Korea’s neck, the Netherlands (c-c-crazy good) gripping Japan’s shoulder, and N.Korea already in its coffin (I lawl), I can only hope that these teams do relatively well. Except for N.Korea of course. Brazil, Côte d’Ivoire and Portugal are juggernauts and I mean JUGGERNAUTS in the soccer world, so N.Korea is almost assured an early trip home.

More information about the World Cup tournament can be found here.
