Intro

The time has finally arrived. Everything that I’ve been helping to promote about Final Fantasy XIII bears fruit. At least in Japan, the gamers are lined up to get their copy of what has been hyped up to be one of the best games out there — at least for the new generation of consoles. This is the first Final Fantasy to be released as a next-gen, high definition game.

The game has shipped 1.8 Million copies and Square Enix hopes to sell every last bit of them in the first week.

Countdown with Square Enix head FFXIII head team staff

The gurus of Final Fantasy team decided to host and head the countdown party so they could talk about their game and talk with fans in person. I think that’s wonderful that game makers in the East have actual well known names and are more like celebrities than the no-name US game makers. Judging by the turnout of people who attended, I’d say the game did quite well! Everyone who attended also got an “elixir” which is basically soda pop in a very cool collectible can with pretty artwork of the characters. More details can be found on this at Wirebot.

Behind the scenes

A video popped up describing the transformation of 3D model to texturing, facial animation and then finally vocal syncing. It’s a lot of work, I should know since I had classes in all of those fields.

Six Role Job system

More was revealed about the new “job class system.” The way this is approached is quite different than previous games. In past games, the series rotated between “blank slates” where you can customize your characters, or pre-determined job classes like “Warrior,” “Thief,””Summoner,” that suited the character’s story line. In this game, roles are combined jobs. For example an attacker would be able to use offensive magic along with physical strikes. This type of system will allow the player to have a better balanced team using fewer characters (3 in a party).

Attacker: For Physical Attacks
Blaster: For Magic Attacks
Defender: Strengthens Your Defense
Healer: Good With Healing
Jammer: Makes Enemies Weak
Enhancer: Strengthen Allies

Conclusion

Will I spend my hard earned money on FFXIII? You bet. I’ll go get it when it launches in the USA. I warn you there will be an excess amount of spoilers on the loose, so try to keep it easy on Youtube and blogs in the next few few weeks. I promise I’ll only give you guys and gals spoiler free blogs.

OH and I almost forgot. Square released the ENGLISH version of the FFXIII site. So now you can finally see what’s going on. Pity it doesn’t have the 1920×1200 wallpapers on it though. Why must English versions always be missing something?

We count down 2.5 months…just 2.5 months for USA. I really can’t wait!!!
