Namie Amuro’s newly released album PAST<FUTURE contains a song, Love Defend, with a music video full of Gundam goodness. Namie Amuro + Gundam = match made in heaven? Find out for yourselves!
The music video features gundams from the very first anime, Mobile Suit Gundam and shows Namie Amuro fighting side by side with the show’s protagonist, Amuro Ray. The music video is fully animated like her Dr. music video and serves as a continuation of it. The theme of the song and music video is world peace. The style of the song is different from her past works. Less hip-hop and more… experimental, I guess? The song isn’t bad but I prefer her hip-hop/pop songs. I heard that the PAST<FUTURE album is concentrated on this kind of style but I’ll still try it out.
Namie Amuro has been a fan of the series since her elementary school days when she learned she shared the same name as Amuro Ray. She gets the honor of being the first living person to appear in the Gundam series. Could it be a dream come true? I know it would be for many otaku.
I wonder if we’ll see her cosplay her character in one of her photoshoots? That would be something I would like to see. It might even become a fashion trend.
You can view the Love Defend music video below.
And here’s the Dr. music video if you haven’t seen it yet:
