When people step into the ring with the Filipino Fighting Pride, they get themselves beat. So what do they do? They try to scare him out of the fight by messing with his superstitions. Clever, yeah? If you listened real closely to the wind for the past couple of weeks, you’d have noticed a slight rattling in the air–that rattling was Mayweather’s knees when he found out the fight between himself and Pacquiao was coming true.

So what does he do? He tries to spook the Fighting Pride of the Philippines out of the fight by offering the one test he refuses to partake in. Olympic-style testing is a rigorous method of sports level testing that requires blood to be drawn in order to find traces of steroids or other illegal substances. The problem is, Pacquiao’s blood is more valuable and seldom seen than unicorn blood (think about it; has anyone really ever seen his blood? He doesn’t even sweat let alone bleed in a fight!)–and everyone, including Mayweather, the promoters and Pacquiao himself knows this.

Not that Pacquiao would have anything to feel guilty about (let’s be realistic folks, there is a slight possibility that he could’ve doped up and although it’s highly doubtful, if you’re not even factoring that possibility into the equation then you’re being a fanboy), but he does have a superstition about drawing blood before the fight because it makes him feel weaker, somehow; not whole.

A lot of this sounds a little fishy because everything has been decided and agreed upon regarding the fight, even the method of testing which was included in the contract. To turn tail so suddenly is a little disheartening I have to say, but I can’t help but feel a little suspicious as to whether Pacquiao really refused the test or not; nobody’s really spoken directly with him. It’s been documented that
Pacquiao said he’d agree to draw blood immediately before and after the fight, but not any time in advance.

Whether all of this fuss about Pacquiao refusing the test is true or not, no one really knows except for Pacquiao. But until he steps forward and offers some sort of statement regarding the matter, and agrees to test in some way, the fight is off.

In any case, what do you think? Is Pacquiao secretly guilty about something or is Mayweather just trying to spook him out of the fight by suggesting the one thing that Pacquiao is scared of?

(If it’s the latter then shame on you Mayweather. Dornoll, the Celtic Goddess of Physical Prowess frowns upon thee.)
