This year has been exciting and has been filled with plenty of interesting stories. Some are sad, some are distrubing, some are funny and some are just down right stupid. But all in all, the stories entertain us and that’s what I plan to do for you now. Here are my picks of the Most Random Stories of 2009.
Love Bites…Literally
Singapore: Car accidents are bad. Having an affair is bad. Put the two together and what do you get? A man going to the hospital because his penis fell off. No wait, it didn’t just fall off. His secretary accidently bit it off while giving him oral stimulation. According to Chinese newspapers, a van in reverse hit the car and the strong impact between the cars caused the lady to clench her teeth and pop(!) went the appendage. Luckily the lady’s husband hired a private detective to expose her cheating ways and was able to call an ambulance to help the man.

Boo-hoo! My Car is Ruined!!
Japan: What is more important than a human life? Your car of course! Or at least that’s what an unemployed 26 year old woman thinks. After running over an 87 year old lady and killing her instantly, she wrote a not-so-friendly blog post: “I ran over and killed an old woman….My long awaited car is ruined, and I’ll lose my license! Damn it!!” (Also take note that she recently retrieved her car back from a garage after an accident that severely damaged it.) She was even disrespectful at the funeral. She apologized a few times and sat at the rearmost row, fiddling her decorated fingers. As if saying sorry will make the pain go away. The woman received a 16 month suspended prison sentence.

Love After Death
Vietnam: 55 year old Le Van is a dedicated man. His dedication to his wife showcases his strong love for her….her even after death. It started out with him sleeping upon her grave after she died in 2003. A year and a half later he dug a tunnel to sleep next to her and to avoid the wind and rain. People eventually found out and persuaded him to stop. So he took it to the next level. In November 2004, he dug up her corpse, molded it with clay into a female form, and leaves her on the bed where he could hug it every night for the past 5 years. Van’s young son gives her a hug every night before he goes to sleep. How sweet yet so sad…

Death By Walmart
China: Misunderstandings usually lead to many nasty things and unfortunately, death is one of them. Yu Xiaochun was a victim of these kinds of misunderstandings. She was accused of shoplifting after leaving a Walmart store in Jingdezhen. She was then confronted by two security employees who asked for her receipt. She refused and left the store. Then the two, along with three other employees, followed her out into the street where she ultimately was pushed down and injured. Three days later she died in the hospital. The reason why she didn’t show her receipt? The men were not wearing the Walmart uniforms. Though I feel that the security employees were out of hand, couldn’t this whole ordeal been avoided if she asked for some proof of employment?

Curse the Addiction Known as Online Gaming!
China: I love to play games and I know how addicting it can be- especially online games where you can play against other people. However, if someone needed my help while I was in a middle of a game, I would most definitely help them! Especially if they were pleading for my help. But not so for a certain Miss Dr. Mao Xiaojun who would rather play an online game of Go rather than help a sick 5 month old baby. Xiaojun didn’t take the baby too seriously and decided to continue her night shift finishing a game of Go. The baby died the following morning and the doctor’s license was taken away. Years of hard work taken away by a board game. How pitiful.

Kids, This is What Happens When You Use Drugs
Malayasia: This is just distrubing. An Indonesian man was found naked in a pool of blood with his severed penis and testicles next to him. His body also contained a few slash wounds. An injured Indonesian woman was found in a different bedroom in the residential flat. Police believe that the two were using illegal drugs which might explain the chaos that occurred in the room. What was the murder weapon? A piece of glass. Ouch! I don’t have any man-thingys but I do know how it feels to be cut by glass and by golly, it hurts! This is why we don’t do drugs: To avoid having pieces of our body cut off.

Epic Failure Much?
China: People usually stereotype criminals as big fumbling idiots who can’t escape from the law. But that’s just a stereotype right? Maybe… But a burglar in China doesn’t help disprove that statement much. Mr. Zhang was released from prison a week before he was arrested for attempted burglary. He entered a 48 year old woman’s house, hoping to steal some cash. The woman, however, was able to convince him to take a nap as he looked very tired. Once he fell asleep the lady tied him up with rope and called the police. What an idiot! I mean, really?! That lady must have some powerful persuasive skills. Well, that or the man was in lala land.
