As Commissioner of the inaugural Mixr League Gaming tournament, it’s my job to do a number of things - ensure that all the rules are followed, incite riot and animosity among the participants, ensure that no animals or interns are harmed, and pick out games that would make for good tournament play. I must say this is a particularly challenging job, but I feel good about my abilities.
In choosing games, there are number of important criteria. The most important of which is that the games are well-polished with few if any bugs. While we have almost 100 games at the time of this writing only a few can actually make that claim. For those waiting patiently for games to be more closely tied with EXP, only these games will have EXP scoring. I’ll be making a new category of EXP/Tourney games in the coming days so that you guys can easily find them later.
Jinra, or I should say, Queen Jinranidas, has already gone into a bit of detail about the tournament structure but I’ll quickly summarize: 2 teams, 5 players per team, 7 games, first team with win 4 out of the 7 games wins bragging rights (and possibly someone’s first-born child). Each game is assigned one player from each team and whichever player scores the highest at the end of the tournament gets one point for their team. On to the games:
Shuriken Escape 2 - easily the most popular game on Ningin and pretty nerve-wracking to boot. Unless you have the clairvoyant ability, this game is amazingly challenging.
Escape The Red Giant – one of my personal favorites. It’s just a really original game that’s whimsical, fun, and easy to play.
Shopping Cart Hero – Who doesn’t want to be a hero of shopping cart stunts?
Target Shooter – Gotta have one shooter. This is made with quality.
QuickType – Not so much a gamer’s game but provides good variety.
Word Machine – For those with high SAT scores.
Death Vs Monstars – Gotta have two shooters. This is also a really original game that gives an extra challenge to our blogging gladiators. You need to beat the game before you can play the free scoring mode to submit your scores. I like that. Otherwise this tourney would be too easy.
Of course there are more qualified Tourney games, but we’ll just do seven for now.
Good luck to both Ningin and Wirebot! Unspeakable glory will be bestowed upon the winners.
