My top five anime for the decade. It was pretty difficult deciding which anime I liked the most. These are pretty easy to get into and shows some of the best of what anime has to offer. Even people who don’t like anime much should be able to enjoy these because they’re so good.

Mushi-shi is one of my favorite anime and something I always recommend when anyone asks what to watch. I don’t see how anyone can hate it. It’s something I rewatch every once in a while just to keep it fresh in my mind. The story is really unique and interesting even though the description might sound boring.

Kino’s Journey felt a bit similar to Mushi-shi for some reason. The main character is a traveler and it’s episodic but that’s all they have in common. Still, anyone who likes Mushi-shi will probably enjoy Kino’s Journey. The art style might be a bit weird but it doesn’t really get in the way. The second movie looked really good though and I wish the series was animated in the same style. And everyone loves a reverse trap with a gun and talking motorcycle.

Gurren Lagann. This was a very simple anime filled with cliches but this series showed why they became cliched. It’s just manly hot blooded robots beating up robots. Sometimes they beat up furries too. Every episode was great, except for maybe episode 4. And the final episodes were just heroic. I think the music made all the difference. “Liberate me from Hell” was especially memorable. And alot of the phrases were just so catchy like “Believe in me who believes in you”!

Baccano has a great cast of characters. It’s chaotic at first, with so many characters introduced in the first episode but after a while you begin to connect the dots. I wish there was more of this. It’s based on a novel so the anime has more material to work with but it doesn’t look like there will be anything new. Which is okay because it ended in a pretty decent way. Also has Rail Tracer, one of the coolest characters ever.

Gintama is my favorite on-going longest running anime series. Its around 190 episodes now which is also the longest anime series I’ve watched up to date. And I love every episode. It might have a slow start to some people but for those who read the manga, they already know what to expect. It’s the type of show that just gets better the more you watch. And all those joke spin-off projects they bring up in the anime would be so good as a full series or movie.

There’s many other shows that I would add to anime of the decade but these are the five I liked the most. The type I watch over and over again. I would also add The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya but the second episode made me so angry. Hopefully the movie will redeem it.
