After 20 years of requesting and waiting for a train station to be built, Taj Nagar, a small village just outside of Delhi had had enough; they saved up 2.1 million rupees (about $45,000 USD) and built it themselves.

Well after 2 decades of sitting around doing nothing, I’d be pretty tired of waiting too. The people of Taj Nagar have been requesting a railway station since about 1982 says one villager, but the railway company just didn’t have the funds to set forth on a venture to build a train station in such a small village. So the people of Taj Nagar finally began to take matters into their own hands. In about 2 years they managed to save approximately 2 million rupees, which is equivalent to about 45,000 American dollars and they built the damn station by themselves.

Once they began building, they enlisted the help of the railway company (the same one that’s been putting them off for 20-odd years) to ensure that all construction protocol and regulations were met. They finished construction of the station just this past week and it consists of 2 platforms and a ticket stand. It’s not as crude as it may sound though–the platforms are pretty ballin’ apparently.

I’ve been sitting around and waiting for my very own Kogi’s food truck in my driveway for about 8 years now. At this rate, I’ve got about 12 more years of waiting before I can start saving my money and buying a truck myself. I’ll come back here in 2022 and blog about my new accomplishment. Just you wait Ningin, just you wait.
