If you like to drive out of the ordinary cars, or like to ride shotgun, or even just watch them in action, this is my gift to you. Toyota has been a long standing name in the automotive industry since it’s inception. It represents style, performance and reliability and it looks as if Toyota striving to keep that reputation. Pictured above is the creator of MR2s himself, “MR2 creator guy” (let’s just stick with that, his name is Hiromu Naruse but it doesn’t sound as cool).

Anywho, I could just nerd out about this car for the next 3 hours but I already have close to no readers and I don’t plan on cutting THAT down either. The MR2 has been hailed since it’s creation as the “Poor Man’s Ferrari” because it allows the middle class person to experience what a mid-engine sports car feels like but at the same time wields a price tag that doesn’t hurt the buyer too much. Let’s travel through the years and see how much progress the MR2 has made since it’s introduction in 1984.

The Toyota MR2 MKI: 1984-1989

The immensely popular Toyota MR2 MKII (of which I am a proud owner): 1990-1999

The not-so-immensely-popular Toyota MR2 MKIII: 2000-2007

And Toyota’s newly introduced Toyota MR2 MKIV Concept: ????-????

So after seeing this series of pictures, what do you think about the new concept that Toyota has introduced? Does it have a market niche in America or should it just stay native to Japan and flourish there? Experts say that this car is Toyota’s response to Honda’s new sports car, the Honda CR-Z (ugly). Do you think it has what it takes to stomp out all other competition?
