Koyuki will always and forever be remembered by me as the woman Tom Cruise fell in love with in The Last Samurai and…the woman who decided to keep an adolescent boy (Matsumoto Jun) as her pet in Kimi Wa Petto. Anyone who can play Tom Cruises’ main squeeze and the owner of an adolescent boy is fantastic in my book.

Her recent film credits include last year’s Blood: The Last Vampire , Always: Sunset on Third Street 2, the upcoming Kamui and Space Battleship Yamato.

Very little in English is known about Koyuki aside from the fact that she was born on December 18, 1976 and from Zama, in the Kanagawa prefecture of Japan. Surprisingly, she actually started out as a model in the mid 90s who eventually worked her way on up into acting in dramas, commercials and fashion ad campaigns. Aside from being a pretty face, she’s proven herself to be quite the talented actress landing a nomination for Japanese Academy’s Best Actress in 2006 for her role in Always: Sunset on Third Street.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a girl boner for her. Hopefully 2010 brings more from Koyuki!
