Say what you will about Japanese pop culture, but you have to admit that Japan has a long history of producing very talented artisans and craftsmen. Now what I enjoy is when someone combines (the rather soul sucking) modern pop culture with traditional artwork, producing something insane. Like what you’d get if you painted all 150 Pokemon in a more traditional style.

These works of insane artwork were done by a Japanese blogger. Just take a look at the amount of detail and work that went into redesigning each pokemon.

If I was him (and I wish I was because all of my ‘art’ involves stick figures fighting kung-foo) I would sell these as posters. I’m sure the rabid Pokemon fans on both sides of the Pacific Ocean would buy them up.
