From Rekuru: Saturday night, I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing a local New York City music group called FiRESiGN. Comprised of lead vocalist Aya and bassist Masaki Yamada, the two have a long-standing background in music, with Masaki originally being the lead singer in the heavy metal band Ezo (formally known as Flatback). Coincidentally, Ezo has been named as an influence for such artists as Steve McDonald of Redd Kross and Michael Steele of the The Bangles. With that said, here’s the interview. Enjoy. More »

There has been a lot of posts about Sam Tsui’s Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson medleys. Him and his friend Kurt Schneider do it again. They took my favorite song, Jay Sean’s “Down,” and made an acoustic version. I’m pretty sure I about died. No joke. More »

From Rekuru:

I rave so much about Japanese art that it may seem like as far as I’m concerned, everything is the “best” or “most important” or “life-changing” or oh-so-much better than its Western counterpart. But getting down to it. Across all genres–what is the best, that is the one most important story told in recent years: the narrative of modern Japan? As an example of what I mean by this, in America for a long time it was Fitzgerald’s Great Gatsby. Like it or not (I personally don’t), that’s basically the story of America. As far as post-War Japan goes, Neon Genesis Evangelion is a strong candidate. So is Barefoot Gen. But I have to put my money on the pop-culture phenomenon of Battle Royale. More »

Sun Mi left the Wonder Girls, for those of you living in a cave far from Korea. Why would she leave when the girls are pretty much the only group breaking into the US history? Not surprisingly, the departure of Sun Mi at a critical time during Wonder Girls’ rise to success has left the music industry baffled. Because it is practically unbelievable that she would leave at this time, than any other, many news articles and Netizen theories came to surface. More »

Dynamic female duo 2NB has just released a new single yesterday entitled Black Tears. The A-side song, Black Tears, is a very drama OST-esque ballad. Powerful vocals combined with an excellent instrumental helps the track from becoming trite like other OST songs can sometimes sound. Overall, it’s a pretty good song. More »

Boy what an intense weekend of flash gaming! Going into this I really didn’t think the teams were all that balanced. With only three total points separating the first and last team, it seems we have some real competition. WireMeis first getting a 24 out of a possible 36 points. Team Mixr Users is second trailing by just one point. BlitzKuTek is not far behind, trailing by 2 points. Ningin, the once dominant team heading into this tournament, is surprisingly last trailing WireMe by 3. Let’s get to the breakdowns: More »

From Rekuru:

Inuyasha (or Inu Yasha) fans should find this exciting: on March 24th of 2010, a special CD set is planned for release. It will include all theme songs from the anime, which I believe does not exclude the line of movies put in theaters from 2001 to 2004.

From Girlybubble: When parents upload videos of their children online, sometimes it is cute, while other times it is not. In those cases where it is not cute, a child looks lost and awkward while obviously being directed by his parents off camera. But those other times when it is cute, the child is a ham for the camera and comes off with a certain charm about him. The five year old Japanese boy with a ukulele falls under the category of the latter. His videos have been making their rounds on the internet since late last year, and he has garnered a small cult following. That is not surprising find out. Whenever I watch his videos, I have a huge smile on my face. More »
