If you like to drive out of the ordinary cars, or like to ride shotgun, or even just watch them in action, this is my gift to you. Toyota has been a long standing name in the automotive industry since it’s inception. It represents style, performance and reliability and it looks as if Toyota striving to keep that reputation. Pictured above is the creator of MR2s himself, “MR2 creator guy” (let’s just stick with that, his name is Hiromu Naruse but it doesn’t sound as cool). More »

From Flauntme: This week’s international beauty secret, Rose of Heaven Body Cream, comes from Japan and Bulgaria! A Japanese friend of mine recommended this body cream that is made with Bulgarian damask roses by Kose. This is a thick body butter that claims to leave your skin velvety smooth. I’m a fan of almost anything rose scented, so count me in! More »

Today’s Youtube video of the day is something my Chinese teacher showed our class. Apparently this lady, Song Zuying, is a really popular singer in mainland China. First, she showed us the original, but then she showed a video where a guy had dubbed it in English, and it is hilarious! Not only is the original hilarious because they are cultivating peppers, but the dubbing makes it even better! My teacher kept quoting the video the rest of the semester. More »

From Rekuru: “Freedom is something you have to fight for.” - Professor Yagihara

This is a line from Akira Kurosawa’s 1946 film No Regrets for Our Youth which, coincidentally, sums up the entire theme of the film. Set in Kyoto after the Manchurian Incident, No Regrets tells the story of three classmates attending Kyoto University and their life-long struggle for freedom amidst militaristic, fascist opposition. While the film has long gone unnoticed (most likely due to it not being available on DVD until just recently), No Regrets is a powerful and fantastic film that’s definitely worth a watch. More »

From Rekuru: 2010 is going to be such a good year for J-Rock in the U.S.! I just heard that two of visual kei’s greatest veteran groups have been confirmed for my favorite anime festival, A-Kon. These two bands have helped shape the Japanese metal genre and are considered pioneers of the visual scene in the 80’s and 90’s. In A-Kon’s 21st year, they are really pulling out the big guns to bring us the reunion shows of these two legendary bands. So who am I talking about? Click more to find out! More »

Is there anything Charice Pempengco cannot do? The easy answer is no. Take this video of her performance of Kanye West’s Gold Digger (a la Fox’s Glee). Charice not only sings and dances, she RAPS in this performance. As in talking fast to a hip hop beat like she’s gonna cut someone. In addition to her phenomenal vocal talent, dancing, Miley Cyrus imitation and talking like a chipmunk, we can add rapping to her laundry list of talents. More »

From Htcyou: What happens when a really well made and superior product is released, and no one buys it? Based on the number of unboxing videos for the Nexus One, I assume that every unit sold has had its unboxing recorded and then uploaded to YouTube. From Patrick Boivin comes the most wicked and creative unboxing of any smartphone. My only question is, what took him so long? More »

James Cameron’s Avatar has reportedly broken major box office records by earning 500 million yuan ($73.2 million) in just two weeks. While you might be scratching your head over why it took them so long to get these figures in, understand that China had to wait two weeks after the movie opened in most theaters internationally. Having seen the film, I have to say, China…that’s two weeks too long. That’s how good it is. Aside from being good, there’s another reason that’s driving Avatar’s box office sales. More »

The Chinese music industry has been somewhat lacking lately, with notable artists such as Leehom Wang and Jay Chou going into a sort of musical remission.
