Archive for January, 2010

2009 ended with a bang with the Wonder Girls lighting up a Christmas Tree and sending out gifts. All the good and fun stuff doesn’t have to wait until next Christmas! What a way to start off the new year with another great contest. All you gotta do this time is submit a form, no fancy tricks. If I were you, however, I’d brush up on my Nobody dance skills because the grand prize winner will be on stage with the Wonder Girls performing that song. But don’t die of stage fright! The winner will also be getting their very own private lesson, so what are you waiting for? More »

As outrageous as it may sound have sounded to start out with, the Jay Chou directed drama entitled “Pandamen” is hitting China on January 17th; that’s just two days! After extensive filming, editing, and close scrutinizing by the Chinese government, the drama has finally been approved for broadcast. More »

Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the past week, you know that the small country of Haiti was struck with a terrible 7.0 magnitude Earthquake. The country is in shambles and as one citizen puts it, “water is the currency now.” The death toll keeps on rising and this grief stricken country is doing everything that it can to help the estimated thousands of people still buried underneath the rubble. I present to you today’s WTF moment of the day: Japanese school girl scare crows. Based on how creepy these scarecrows are, I’d say they’re posing as a threat to Mr. Scarecrow. However, as effective as these Japanese school girl scarecrows may be, it’s possible that they’re creating an additional problem. More »

The censors at KBS went crazy after seeing HyunA’s pelvic thrust and immediately fainted. Because the MV is stealing the innocence of many a Korean child, they reported that HyunA’s staff must revise the MV. Hell, Hyuna isn’t even 19 yet (Legal age to view pornography in Korea) and she can’t even watch her own MV, how hilarious. - I can’t really see how this is in the same category as Forest Hump. They say girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice and boys are made of snips, snails and puppy dog tails. In the world of Mixr League Gaming (MLG), such is not the case. MLG players are made of quick wits, intelligence and superior flash game playing skills. Some are made of these things more than others. This Saturday, Jan. 16, the MLG will host it’s first 1-day Battle of the Sexes Match to find out what our players are really made of. More »

The MLG Tournament II truly was a test of character and flash gaming spirit for a lot of MLG players. Despite a previous victory, one MLG team had to withstand harsh criticism and banter from all sides. Given today’s official results, that one team has again emerged unscathed and without major finger bruises to prove themselves winners of MLG Tournament II. That team is Team Ningin. More »

Since filming began in January of last year, I have been anxiously awaiting the release of the Jackie Chan directed move called Little Big Soldier (大兵小将). The movie is set in the time of the warring states period in China and revolves around the story of an old foot solider (Jackie Chan) kidnapping a young enemy general (Leehom Wang) in hopes of obtaining a reward in exchange. We believe that the Google Android operating system will set standards for smartphones and will revolutionize the way that people communicate, play and organize their lives. This belief fuels HTCYou’s existence and is our reason for reaching out to you. Ever since our newest site HTCYou launched today, I’ve had nothing on the brain but mobile phones and Asian pop songs. One thing that isn’t apparent about HTC despite being Google’s partner-in-crime in developing the Nexus One phone, is the fact that HTC is a company based in Taiwan. This leads me to wonder about HTC and how it’ll market its products stateside. Will it do as the Koreans do by creating entire songs and music videos dedicated to cell phones? If so, the list of Top 5 Asian pop music videos about mobile phones might be useful. More »

From Rekuru: Before Akira Kurosawa came to be known for his largely popular Seven Samurai and Rashomon, there was The Men Who Tread on the Tiger’s Tail. One of the first films to be directed by Kurosawa, Tiger’s Tail, released in 1945, tells the story of a famed general on the run after his brother puts out an order to have him killed. Along with five trusty samurai (one of which is a young Takashi Shimura, a Kurosawa-regular) as well as a cunning bodyguard, the seven go on the run, disguised as wandering priests. More »

After their opening act tour with the Jonas Brothers, it looks like the Wonder Girls are hitting the road again, as they will be the opening act for Justin Biebers’s Valentine’s Day Concert in Los Angeles. So, for all you Wonder Girls fans out there that can make it to the Hollywood Palladium at 6PM that day, the concert is open to all ages and tickets are now available online, but if you are planning on attending, I would buy them now because they are selling like hotcakes! From Girlybubble: Singer Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has always been a woman who was very adventurous in fashion, especially with her on-stage get ups. Her fashion sensibilities represents the growl of a bold tigress on the prowl (I know, that rhymed!). Credit for her eccentric performance wardrobe goes to her friend and costume designer Christian Joy. For those of who are admirers of Ms. O’s youthful and sassy style, you can now purchase your own Christian Joy original at her shop on Etsy and dress like your favorite indie rock goddess while dancing to “Heads Will Roll.” More »

I tried to hate it. I was skeptical of the first episode thinking how long it would take before it devolves into moeblob crap. Although I usually prefer anime with explosions and lasers, this was interesting to watch. While watching the second episode, I tried to look as angry as I could but some parts forced me to break a smile. Although one thing really annoyed me. More »
