The 2 hours I spent watching Gurren Lagann Movie Lagann-Hen were the best 2 hours of my life. The wait for the DVDs to come out was worth it. If anything, it made the movie even better. While the movie wouldn’t be too spectacular if I watched it right after the series. Revisiting it a few years later was a good reminder on why Gurren Lagann was so good. It’s not just a simple re-hash either. The movie expands the relationship between Nia and Simon and there were some changes to the story such as characters surviving where they did not in the series. The beginning and the end were pretty much the same, but the middle had stuff taken out and added in. And these changes were great, especially the last 30 minutes. It was pretty much a 30 minute non-stop fight and I loved it. Lord Genome was also incredibly manly in this, and that’s saying a lot. If you just finished watching the series, do yourself a favor and wait a month or 2. The movie will be so much better.
