So I got my hands on the U-KISS album that is set to hit tomorrow. The album is called “Only One.” This will be their first full length album and it features fourteen tracks; five of the tracks are new sings, six of them are remixes, two of them are instrumentals, and one of them is an into track. Keep reading to see what I think of the album…
1. Intro
This is the short introduction track. Nice piano instrumental. Nice way to start an album.
2. 빙글빙글 [Round and Round]: 4.5/5
Finally, a k-pop song that utilizes little to no autotune! As you all know, I’m usually very critically of pop songs. This song worked very well for me. It’s a definitely a song you can dance to, and the chorus is catchy, but not overly repetitive.
3. Without You: 4.5/5
Again, no autotune. Thank you U-KISS. This mid-tempo song has a ballad feel and shows off some of the more vocal singers in the group. Easily my favorite song off the album.
4. 뭐라고 [What's This]: 4.5/5
So I don’t completely hate autotune. Use of it when appropriate can really help a song out. This song does just that. Again, a very upbeat song. Totally something you can jam to.
5. Bang Bang Bang: 4/5
Yay! Another dance track. This song, for me, was very Backstreet Boys-esque. I liked it. It loses some points for the ridiculous chorus/song title (Bang Bang Bang… =.=”).
6. Dancing Flow: 3/5
Basically a rehash of the previous dance songs on the album. Not too bad, but not as good as the other ones. The chorus was a little… Lame.
The rest of the album is remixes and instrumentals, which I don’t feel the need to review. In short, they’re all pretty much pumped up versions of the originals. In any case, I was quite satisfied with this album. U-KISS did a good job of keeping pop “fresh” for me. *gives stamp of approval*
OVERALL: 4/5
