^ Because of You is a Pop Ballad. The majority is ballads. I never said he has to put mainstream songs in a top 5. You’re not paying attention.

^ uh, 2 and 4 are not ballads. that’s 3 out of 5 that are ballads, which is a 40-60 split. with only 5 spots, that’s as close to 50-50 as you’re going to get. the more popular songs will appear if the poster feels that they’ve deserved consideration for his personal top 5. because of you is definitely a mainstream one, and clearly, he felt it was deserving.

I’m just going to put this out in the open. You pretty much just chose all ballads. Yes, I love ballads very much so too. Although, not everything is based off ballads, and sometimes the more popular songs are quite worth being apart of a list like this. If you keep choosing stuff that’s not as popular, then you’re just being judgmental about it. I’m not going to say you have to like Heartbeat, Oh!, Sorry Sorry, and etc.

Although, it’s not just because of the name of the artist/band, that these songs are doing so well. It’s also because people like the song. If nobody liked the songs, then they wouldn’t be popular.

I don’t have anything against super happy songs… I like, for example, Diva. I just don’t like that people tend to overrate songs based on their liking of the artist. Okay, it’s a catchy song, but you have to admit that many of those sales are based on the fact that an artist you like released an album. I’m all for supporting artists, but there comes a point where people begin deluding themselves, even if by just a bit.

That will happen to every good artist. If it doesn’t happen, something you’re doing is wrong with your hype. Like I was saying before, us BoA fans didn’t let boa release crap and didn’t buy Vivid single. IT wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great.

I’m not complaining about your song selections here they were all good.

I like these picks. why? because they’re not just “the cool picks”. you could have easily picked snsd’s oh! or 2pm’s heartbeat, or picked a “fun song” just because it was “catchy” and “everyone else likes it but you”, but you stuck to your guns, and didn’t just play to the whims of The Latest Trend. major, major kudos, and keep going against the grain.

This is why i didnt understand your other thread. Clearly theres tracks that YOU like, (as u put in this thread) and then there’s OH! For ones who like a fun song. Kinda doesn’t make sense when you wonder why sales for OH! Are so high when it has many types of songs for all audiences. Even Michael Jackson had “fun” type songs that didn’t display his range of vocals that sold super well.
