CNblue, a newly debuted group just months ago, are already knee deep in the water. Usually, the netizen claims for plagiarism are never valid from other major blogs out there, and few lawsuits ever surfaced from them. In this particular case I’d say they should have taken precaution.

The first major concern is Loner/Alone the song itself has similar chord structure to the said song’s chorus to, Blue Bird. But here’s where it gets more tricky; The name of their album “Blue Tory”, the Tory part refers to meaning of bird in Japanese.

This created a battle against band YNOT who has a copyright with a song entitled Blue Bird and its song structure. Having just debuted and your next track is considered plagiarism can easily end a new group.

Although a heavy weight was on their shoulders, they still went on SBS to perform LONER/Alone with a strong fan support and energetic performance.

An excuse was made by CN Blue’s management:

CN Blue’s management, FNC Music replied that the album title ‘Bluetory’ was purely made up by the president of the company and that it represents CN Blue with the “blue” and the pure Korean word “tory.” They also added that “tory” stands for the “music specialty that each area has” and ‘Bluetory’ in general means that “CN Blue will be showing their own color in the music industry.”

The problem I see is that if you’re going to make a song based of another’s influence, why make it a similar name? You’re really asking to get caught, and thus I have difficulty defending CNblue in this scenario.

Maybe they can just call it Blue Story, redo the chord order and just move on? It would seem they would need some good lawyers to help them. YNOT’s case can convince the court since there are 2 items at stake.

Opinions on this matter? Maybe you can convince me that the group did no harm?

Here’s the original YNOT song

it sucks that they are being accused of plagiarism when they had just debuted.

I have a feeling they won’t lose the case, despite the similarities. When I say they, well I mean C.N.BLUE.

Totally agree with you. This was carelessness on the production side.
