The winners of MBC Star Dance Battle 2010 and other note-worthy perfs

MBC Star Dance Battle - Lunar New Year 2010 Special aired on February 14th brought out the best of idol groups ranging from rookies like BEAST, MBLAQ, T-ara, and Rainbow to other major groups like 2PM, Super Junior, SNSD, and After School. But who won these fierce battles?

Here is the line-up of the battles (of course I’m not gonna post them all..)

Round 1: MBLAQ vs. Rainbow

Round 2: BEAST vs. T-ara

Round 3: Comedians Yoo Chaeyong, Kim Nayoung, Jo Hyeryun (2PM’s “Heartbeat”) vs. Chun Myunghoon, Kim Jongmin and Noh Yoomin (T-ara’s “Bo Peep Bo Peep)

Round 4: After School vs. SNSD

Round 5: Comedians Kim Shin Young (G-Dragon’s “Heartbreaker”) vs. Shin Bong Sun and BEAST (HyunA’s “Change”)

Round 6: 2PM vs. Super Junior

After watching all the performances at Unknowncarrot@YT, I saw that the winners are…SUPER JUNIOR and AFTER SCHOOL!

Here are these winning perfs:

Compared to their competitions (Suju vs. 2PM, After School vs. SNSD):

Although I thought that 2PM was gonna win (because they are supposedly Kpop’s best dancers…maybe until Jay left..), I can see why Suju won. 2PM focused too much on those slick and ’sexy’ moves that their perf just became a little dirty to me and it had “Michael Jackson” written all over. However, Suju started off with some great break dancing and transited to a more powerful dance..it was very catchy and not boring at all :)

As for the Honorable mentions, I picked BEAST, the guy comedians, and Shin Bong Sun:

BEAST performed Omarion’s Ice Box and Bow Wow & Omarion’s Hey Baby…and srsly? they were my bias at the very start and it didn’t change at all XD

The guy comedians Chun Myunghoon, Kim Jongmin and Noh Yoomin performed T-ara’s Bo Peep Bo Peep..and it was just great laugh.

Last but not least, my favorite parody of the night: Shin Bong Sun and BEAST performing HyunA’s Change! I couldn’t resist laughing every second because of her attempts at sexing the beasts and those guys were trying hard not to laugh themselves haha.

And since I know many would like to see a lil MBLAQ bits, here’s their perf which seemed mediocre to me…
They were dancing with light-up ropes :D (rip-off version of Rain’s magic stick?)

Rainbow and comedian Jung Juri covered Beyonce’s Single Ladies (which you probably have seen a million times before) and T-ara covered Uhm Jung Hwa’s D.I.S.C.O (which I was mad that they won over BEAST because it had such easy dance moves and their outfits are just a no-no).

Lastly, I want to include the Free Style Dancing video, which featured every artist (but some obviously shined more than others):
