The Vancouver Olympics opening ceremony was interesting. Wayne Gretzky was revealed as the final torch carrier and official cauldron lighter. He rode in the back of a vehicle through the streets of Vancouver, and finally lit the cauldron which officially kicked off the 2010 Olympic Games. What amazes me was the live performances, the northern lights, the whales, and the polar bears that appeared from the floor and the ceiling. I like how they used technology and lighting to their advantage; it looked surreal. It was like the the floor was actually cracking like ice and transformed into waves of the ocean, totem poles, and trees. I was in awestruck!
When the Olympian athletes emerged waving their flags, people in attendance cheered in excitement– I sure did when my country (USA) came on my television set!
All in all, the opening ceremony was a success!

I was actually incredibly impressed by the opening. The technology was incredibly win, but I didn’t like the dancing as much.
However, my mom, who is an incredibly proud Chinese woman, kept on saying throughout the opening ceremony was way better than China’s. She said it was way better to keep it simple (she was also impressed with the technology), as opposed to China who used their sheer domination in population to make its ceremony look impressive.

I found the opening ceremony a little lacking..
Korea is so awesome!! they won like 3 gold and 1 silver already (more than any other Asian country)!!! haha can’t wait till Kim Yuna skates to that gold medal!
By itself, it was pretty good, but compared to China… I mean… Come on. China. Hahaha.
