Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu will be showing a whole new side of her in an upcoming film entitled “Hot Summer Days.” Not only did she have to chop off her beloved hair for this film, but she also had to do a scene where the female lead jumps into the water. What’s the problem? Barbie Hsu has aquaphobia.

Hsu’s fear of water began after an incident in her teenage years when she was just 16. “I did not warm up and it was a cold day so I had a leg cramp and started sinking. My friends thought I was joking and did not save me… It was a terrifying experience.”

Hsu was able to overcome her fear with the coaching of the director and she comments that, “After shooting that scene, I am now not as afraid of water as before.”

You go, girl!

i wonder how she had been taking a shower though

Well, people with aquaphobia tend to just be afraid of large bodies of water. Like if they’re near an ocean they tend to be uneasy.
