After receiving surgery for a right shoulder injury in late July of last year, it looks like Yankee pitcher Chien Ming Wang will be signing an estimated $5 million contract with the Washington Nationals on Friday.
This is seen as a heavy gamble for the Nationals, as it is still unclear as to whether Wang will fully recover back to his old self. Wang is famous for his sink balls, which many hitters have commented is “like hitting a bowling ball.”
Brian Bruney, Washington reliever, commented that, “At his best, he’s a guy that is gonna give you a run for the Cy Young every year; that’s how good his stuff is. And hopefully that’s the Wanger we’re getting. Because that would be a good addition to any ballclub.”
