Tuc’s Take: 2NE1 Comeback Stage

In my opinion, 2NE1 was definitely THE rookie group of 2009. Fighting neck-to-neck with big-named artists like SNSD, this group from YG Entertainment was a force to be reckoned with. Their comeback stage on MBC’s Music Bank is fast approaching, and expectations are high. Keep reading to find out Tuc’s take on the 2NE1 comeback.

This comeback is a crucial moment in 2NE1’s career. After an extremely well done mini-album, the group has a lot to live up to in terms of their full-length album. The album was set to hit last November, but was delayed. YG explained that the company wants to make sure that each and every track on the full-length album would be good enough to be a stand-alone title track.

2NE1 separated itself from the herd of girl groups by introducing a very powerful concept; the concept was bordering on an anti-male concept, but surprisingly was still able to draw a lot of males into their music. If 2NE1 is trading in their “powerful female” concept for a cute and innocent concept (similar to SNSD), then I am going to venture a prediction that 2NE1 is set to crash and burn. The reason being that that sort of concept does not fit the members… At all.

2NE1 is the sort of group that should stick with the concept that they are best at and keep producing songs that revolve around that concept. I am sure that 2NE1 and YG will not disappoint us, but, hey, we’ve all seen “one hit wonders before.”
