It has just been announced that Japan’s TBS will be airing a drama about a male rhythmic gymnastics team. It will star the rising talents of Yusuke Yamamoto, Koji Seto, Kento Kaku (He is seriously in everything now.) and Daito Shunsuke. Not to mention others. They are hoping that this drama will soon help rhythmic gymnastic teams gain exposure like Waterboys did for male synchronized swimming. Waterboys also shot Satoshi Tsumabaki and Hiroshi Tamaki to fame.

According to Tokyograph, “Yamamoto plays a high school delinquent who has a weakness for women. When an attractive transfer student (Azusa Okamoto) joins the women’s rhythmic gymnastics team, he responds by joining the men’s team and soon discovers a passion for the sport.”

Yamamoto will be doing all of his own stunts a.k.a backflips and pretty twirling. At first, he was going to have a stunt double, but he’s taking it like a man and doing them all since he has been training for it since last fall.
Personally, this to me is already the best drama of Spring 2010. I know, this obviously shows my bias for hot guys. They had me at “male” and “gymnastics” because that means spandex. Don’t worry. Yusuke is 22. ;)
