I think that Ken Hirai is one of those artists that everyone will agree is great. Although his songs are often edgy and push the limits of conventional music, there is always a universal appeal to his songs. Today’s song of the day is Ken’s 2007 single entitled “Elegy.”
“Elegy” is simply a beautiful song. The instruments, the vocals, the lyrics. The songs talks about a love so fierce that it surpasses even the separation of death. This song is also very unique due to the fact that the lyrics are expressed from the point of view of a woman. Here’s a sample of the lyrics, just so you can get a feel for it:
“Dirty me with your hands, with your hands
Break me again and again, again and again
We put our two sweaty lonelinesses together
And fall into a bright, invisible darkness
If my body’s going to die one day
Then I want it to rot from your love”
Pretty intense, huh? Listen and enjoy…
