Song of the Day: Will Pan’s I Want to Understand You Better

With all the songs about relationships between lovers, it’s sometimes hard to come up with songs that feature something different. In the case of Will Pan’s song “I Want to Understand You Better” (我想更懂你), the relationship explored is the relationship between a mother and her son.

Teaming up with renowned Chinese singer Julie Su, Will creates a story about a mother and a son that, although have very different views and attitudes towards life, eventually come together through the power of family and love. It’s a very touching song featuring beautifully female vocals coupled with a emotional male rap. The lyrics are absolutely beautiful. Here’s a sample:

“Every time I want to better understand you, we become farther apart. Is it because we’re using the wrong words, the wrong expressions? More so than not understanding you and not holding you, I am afraid that you will forget that someone will always love you.”

In my opinion, the MV adds a lot to the song. Enjoy!
