Recently, Hideki Matsui from the New York Yankees has been seen practicing with his new team, the Anaheim Angels! He was acquired after New York didn’t negotiate a contract to his liking. With the Angels’ first game less than one week away, Matsui and his team gets ready with a full workout! In this set of pictures, you’ll get a chance to see him throw balls, bat balls, run drills and interact with other Angels.


Hideki Matsui gets some instructions from Angels manager Mike Scioscia during workout. Matsui speaks some English but his interpreter is usually close at hand.


Matsui has had surgery on both knees over the past few years and the Angels will be cautious with how much work he does this spring– so gotta do some stretches!



Home Run! Torii Hunter (background) is clearly impressed as Matsui watches this drive clear the right field wall at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

The Angels are counting on Matsui to give support to the batting lineup due to the absence of Vladimir Guerrero. Go Angels!
