This week’s episode of Bleach was actually one of the more entertaining filler episodes. The episode is called “Conclusion?! Hisagi vs. Kazeshini” and revolves around (surprise, surprise) Hisagi and his zampakutou, Kazeshini.

SPOILER ALERT!!

It is revealed that even after Muramasa is killed, Kazeshini, although not a sword fiend, continues to disobey his master, Hisagi. Kazeshini continues on his original quest to kill Hisagi, but is meant by a cold shoulder on Hisagi’s part. Hisagi states that he will not fight Kazeshini unless Kazeshini abandons his underhanded ways of fighting.

Kazeshini is left frustrated. During an attack by the sword fiends in Rukongai, Kazeshini encounters a baby whose parents had been slain. The baby tags along, much to Kazeshini’s frustration. Eventually, the two become close, and Kazeshini learns the real meaning of “fighting to protect.” The baby is threatened and he protects the baby from the blades of a sword fiend, getting injured in the process. He ends up giving the baby to a woman to take care of.

Later, he shows up before Hisagi for a head-on fight. He loses due to his previous injuries, and as he falls to the ground, he hears the baby crying from a distance and whispers “Don’t cry.” Hisagi tells Kazeshini that now they will both fight to “protect someone.” Kazeshini reluctantly accepts.
