Trust your eye when exploring The Armory Show 2010’s cavernous collection of new art by living artists, and you will discover exceptional works of fine art among the Asian artists exhibited.

“Letter to Mother 2” by Jang Taewon at Gana Art Gallery: A photographic light box that mesmerizes with a lit floor of light bulbs leading to an entrance, all the while you forget the forbidden industrial back alley with empty soju bottles — absorbing in a meditative way.

“Rabbit Construction” by Gim Hong Sok at Kukje Gallery: A pink cast resin bunny rabbit not fluffy but on closer inspection reveals a blank garbage bag head with protruding bottle as a cute nose and shopping bag legs — who knew Jeff Koons’ rabbit had offspring?

(Editor’s Note: Actual image of the artwork is unavailable. Pictured is a variation of what is currently featured by Zou Cao.)
“Chairman Mao” by Zou Cao at Galerie Michael Schultz: 15 panels of Chairman Mao viewed through individualistic fingerprints that collectively organize into the flag of China — centralized intensity that would swallow any large display wall.

“Bird Cage”
by Su-Mei Tse: A birdcage made completely out of neon lights — who let the bird(s) out?
