Yuu Watase is commonly known as the Queen of Modern Shoujo Manga. She is one of the most appreciated mangakas (manga artists) of shoujo manga. She also does bishounen since she frequently uses pretty boy characters. She was born March 5, 1970 in Osaka, Japan. She won the Shogakukan Manga Award for shōjo for Ceres, Celestial Legend in 1998. She writes her own stories and draws her own characters. She is amazing at what she does. In Shojo Beat, she even did a long running segment on how to draw and create your own manga.

I have a deep love for Watase’s works since one of the first animes that I ever owned was Fushigi Yugi. I continued to read many of her shoujos, and most of them are definitely worth reading. I think even boys could end up liking them. I own Fushigi Yugi: Genbu Kaiden and Alice 19th. I also read Absolute Boyfriend from the Shojo Beat magazine before they went extinct. I also may have read Imadoki! during the wait at Barnes and Noble during the release of the seventh Harry Potter book. She is an amazing, amazing mangaka. I think everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, would enjoy her work!
