AKB48 is a forty-eight member theater girl group from Japan. Split into three “teams,” the group releases songs both as an entire group and in their individual teams. Today’s song of the day is the title track of their latest single. It’s called “Sakura Bookmark” (桜の栞).

“Sakura Bookmark” is a drastic change of pace from AKB48’s usually happy-go-lucky type of music which is reminiscent of Japanese pop groups. The song instead is a choral based composition that shows off the power of group vocals. Putting their sheer numbers to good use, the song is very relaxing and is certainly something you could fall asleep to. Tell me what you think!
