Word has it that Hong Kong film actress Maggie Q is set to star in the CW’s new revival of the French series “Nikita.”

The original “La Femme Nikita” was about a drug addict who had committed murder, was sentenced to death, and was saved by a branch of the French government. Consequently, she was made into an assassin of sorts. In the end, she decides that this is no longer the life she wants and runs.

The new series picks up from this point, with the government training a new Nikita from scratch. Maggie Q’s lead role in this series would be a groundbreaking point in her career, because this “would mark the highest-profile series role for an Asian actress on a broadcast drama series and the highest-profile CW minority casting in the network’s four-year history.”

I will admit that I did, at one point, watch this entire series on DVD. Although it received little love from both French and American critics, I found it to have a suspensefuland thrilling plot. I’ll be looking forward to its revival.
