Well, SNSD fans, it looks like your highly anticipated moment is finally here. SNSD has finally released the song that goes with their new black concept. The song is called “Run Devil Run.”
Busbee, Alex James, Kalle Engstrom and others were the original composers to the song. American artist Ke$ha sang a “guide” version to the song, but the company found that it didn’t really suit her, so they sold the rights to the song elsewhere. Well, SM was right there to buy it up, and now it’s an SNSD song.
My opinion? Well, while the song is not horrible, it’s still not as great as I expected it to be. Obviously hardcore fans (like the ones on YouTube) are going to try to completely derail any remotely negative comments, but, hey, isn’t that what being in a “fan club” is all about? Homogenizing public opinion into thinking your artist is infallible?
Needless to say, I think this song sort of fell flat. Clearly, the chorus is the best part of the song, because everything leading up to it was just nondescript. Even then, however, the chorus is really nothing special. Also, I completely disagree with Jessica getting the one “power vocal” string in the middle. I would have had Tiffany or Yuri do it instead. Taeyeon and Seohyun were solid choices, though. Overall, I think I’ll be “running” the other way from this song for now. Although it is nice to see SM Entertainment buying their music now.

^ I just wish the song was based more off the chorus, which has a lot of potential and calls for powerful vocals. And yeah, I also like that the song is totally different from Oh!

The song is positively underwhelming. The teaser was hella lot more exciting. They all look hot, I think, but that doesnt make this song that much better. I do like how it is totally different from Oh!, which I find totally annoying! I think SNSD can do better than this~

The chorus is amazing, but I thought it was a little odd that they chose Jessica for one of the “power vocal” lines. (Rofl, I was calling it that too!) Seohyun did hers really well; I was impressed, because I hadn’t considered her one of the strong vocalists in SNSD prior to this.
The song is catchy and has a lot of potential. I would agree that it’s not super amazing (still trying to get using to the talking-ish parts), but I definitely like it better than most of their previous singles.

^ well SM didnt exactly say it was a “black” concept or did they? i thought it was just the fans calling it black soshi from the teaser outfits *shrugs* either way its a nice change from the polychromatic skinny jeans
I like how it’s called their black concept despite the fact that a good portion of the video was filmed entirely in white.
