Well, SNSD fans, it looks like your highly anticipated moment is finally here. SNSD has finally released the song that goes with their new black concept. The song is called “Run Devil Run.”

Busbee, Alex James, Kalle Engstrom and others were the original composers to the song. American artist Ke$ha sang a “guide” version to the song, but the company found that it didn’t really suit her, so they sold the rights to the song elsewhere. Well, SM was right there to buy it up, and now it’s an SNSD song.

My opinion? Well, while the song is not horrible, it’s still not as great as I expected it to be. Obviously hardcore fans (like the ones on YouTube) are going to try to completely derail any remotely negative comments, but, hey, isn’t that what being in a “fan club” is all about? Homogenizing public opinion into thinking your artist is infallible?

Needless to say, I think this song sort of fell flat. Clearly, the chorus is the best part of the song, because everything leading up to it was just nondescript. Even then, however, the chorus is really nothing special. Also, I completely disagree with Jessica getting the one “power vocal” string in the middle. I would have had Tiffany or Yuri do it instead. Taeyeon and Seohyun were solid choices, though. Overall, I think I’ll be “running” the other way from this song for now. Although it is nice to see SM Entertainment buying their music now.
