Michelangelo was a very talented artist during the High Renaissance and quite frankly, it’s hard to replicate his detailed sculptures. However a Mr. Kordian Lewandowski decided to take Michelangelo’s La Pietá to a different level and sculpted a Mario version of the artwork.

This piece of work was carved out of polystyrene foam and has been dubbed Game Over. How fitting. In the original La Pietá, Mary is holding Christ’s dead body. That was transferred over to Game Over with Princess Peach holding onto Mario’s corspe.

You can’t really compare the two artworks (besides the concept and poses) because both artists used different materials and styles. Of course Lewandowski’s sculpture has nothing on Michelangelo’s La Pietá but I still love it and wouldn’t mind having something like that around my home.

Here are comparison pictures.
